Field notes
WMON is a contract. The ticker is not.
The docs publish one wrapped MON address. Every other wrapper on the chain is someone else’s token that happens to reference an asset you know. Look up the bytes before you look at the price.

Native MON pays gas and sits in the wallet as the chain’s own coin. Wrapped MON is an ERC-20 that a pool can hold. They are not the same object, and a router that “uses MON” is often wrapping it on the way in and unwrapping it on the way out. The docs’ network page lists the canonical wrapped MON contract: 0x3bd359C1119dA7Da1D913D1C4D2B7c461115433A. That is the address to expect when a serious pool says WMON. An address that merely prints the same symbol is a different token. It can be worthless, or it can be fine and still not the one your quote assumed.
What this desk will actually touch
MONAF’s velocity book is deliberately small. The ETH exposure it will buy is WETH at 0xEE8c0E9f1BFFb4Eb878d8f15f368A02a35481242. The BTC exposure it prefers is WBTC at 0x0555E30da8f98308EdB960aa94C0Db47230d2B9c. cbBTC, at 0xd18B7EC58Cdf4876f6AFebd3Ed1730e4Ce10414b, is a second BTC wrapper the desk will use only when the size clears a measured round trip, and it will not hold both as if they were the same coin. SOL at 0xea17E5a9efEBf1477dB45082d67010E2245217f1 is on the watchlist and is not offered: the pool was too thin, and a thin pool is a fee. These are the addresses this product has measured. They are not a claim that no other wrapper is legitimate. They are a claim that we will not trade a ticker we have not named in full.
The size matters as much as the address. The same WBTC pool that is tolerable at 10 MON was, in this desk’s own measurements, a 7.5 percent round trip at 1 MON and far worse at 0.3, partly because an 8-decimal token rounds a small order into the fee. A quote at a size you do not intend to trade is a different market. Ask at the size you will sign.
If the address is not on the docs, or not in the list you already measured, it is a new asset. Price it as one.
How to check in one minute
Paste the address into MonadVision. Read the contract name, the decimals, and the holders. Decimals are not a detail: BTC wrappers on this chain use 8, SOL-like tokens often use 9, MON and WETH use 18. A interface that assumes 18 for an 8-decimal token will show you a number that is wrong by ten orders of magnitude, and the contract will still fill the true amount. Then read who can mint. A wrapper with an open mint is not a claim on the asset in the ticker. It is a printer. Walk away, or size it as a bet on the printer, and say so in writing before you size it as bitcoin.
