Lending came with the bytecode: Morpho, Aave, Euler

Monad did not have to invent a money market. The ones Ethereum already audited deployed beside the native exchanges. The risk moved with them.

A late oracle hurts

CertiK’s October map of Monad separates two layers of finance. The bottom is familiar EVM machinery: Aave, Morpho, Euler, Uniswap, Curve. The top is native: order books and perps built for the slot time. Lending sits in the first layer, which is both a comfort and a warning. The comfort is that the bytecode has been looked at before, often by the same firms, on another chain. The warning is that a lending market fails in ways that have nothing to do with block time. An oracle prints a bad price. A collateral lists a thin pool. A governance key changes a parameter on a Friday.

SAME LOAN, FASTER CLOSEThe price is the riskCollateralLocked. The oracle names the price.HealthAbove the line, until the feed moves.Next slotLiquidated. A wrong price, on time.
A loan on an EVM is the same shape on Monad. The chain changes how fast the liquidation transaction lands, not whether the price was wrong.

What speed changes, and what it does not

Liquidations get more honest on a fast chain, not kinder. A position that crosses its threshold can be closed in the next slot or the one after, which is under a second, rather than in whatever block a slower chain gets around to. Borrowers who sized their health factor for a world in which they had ten minutes to top up will be late. Lenders who were paid for that slowness are being paid for something the chain no longer provides. The interest rate does not know this automatically. The people setting it have to.

Morpho’s model, isolated markets with a stated collateral and loan asset, travels cleanly because it does not pretend one giant pool understands every token. Aave’s pooled model travels too, and brings the pooled risks with it: one bad collateral can become everyone’s problem if the risk parameters allow it. Euler’s modular markets are a third shape. Choosing among them is choosing who eats a bad listing. It is not choosing a chain.

A fast liquidation of a wrong price is still a wrong liquidation. It is merely punctual.

A practical check

Before posting collateral, name the oracle, the liquidation bonus, and the address that can change either. If you cannot find those three in the app you are using, you are not lending. You are trusting a homepage. MONAF does not route agent vaults into these markets in the current build. The contracts exist on the chain whether or not this product offers a button.

The oracle is the slow machine

A 300 millisecond slot does not speed up a price feed. If the oracle publishes every few minutes, then for hundreds of slots the chain is judging health against a number that is standing still. When the number jumps, every position the old number had spared becomes eligible together, and liquidators meet in the next slot rather than over a leisurely ten minutes. People who remember having time to add collateral on Ethereum are remembering the feed and the block time as one experience. On Monad the block time is no longer the part that gives you that time. If the feed is late, you are not safe. You are uninformed, quickly.

Three ways to share a loss

Morpho’s isolated markets are one collateral and one loan asset. A bad listing stays in its box, and liquidity stays in its box too, which is the cost of the box. Aave’s pooled markets share inventory across listings, so a collateral whose risk parameters were set too loosely can become a loss for lenders who never picked it. Euler’s modular markets are a third cut, with their own switch for which module is allowed to run. Choosing among the three is choosing the blast radius of a mistake. The chain will deliver the liquidation punctually in every case. Punctuality is not underwriting.
